Manchester, October 2, 2025 – Two people were killed and several others injured in an attack this morning in front of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue in the Crumpsall district, north of Manchester.
The assailant, identified by the police as Jihad Al-Shamiaa 35 -year -old Briton of Syrian origin, struck pedestrians with his car before stabbing several people.
The incident took place around 9:30 am, during Yom Kippour, the most sacred day of the Jewish calendar.
The police intervened immediately and killed the assailant at 9:38 a.m.
Four people were transported to hospital, two of whom died of their injuries.
The other two victims are in serious but stable condition.
Three other individuals were arrested in connection with the attack: two men in the thirties and a woman in sixties, suspected of preparation or incitement to terrorist acts.
British police qualified the incident terrorist And conducts an investigation to determine possible complicities.
No claim has been reported at this stage.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack as a “vile” act targeting the Jews and the United Kingdom.
He announced the strengthening of security around synagogues and community places across the country.
King Charles III expressed his “sadness and dismay” in the face of the attack.
Police recalled that this type incidents remain rare in the United Kingdom.
