The economic and financial judicial center on Thursday ordered the incarceration of Boutheina Ben Yaghlane, former director general of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC), as part of an investigation into suspicions of financial and administrative corruption.
According to the judicial information relayed by Mosaique FM, the main investigating judge issued a warrant of deposit against Boutheina Ben Yaghlane. The night before, two other mandates had already been delivered, targeting the businessman Ahmed Abdelkefi as well as a former CDC director.
The investigations in progress relate to possible embezzlement and irregularities in the management of CDC funds, a public financial institution under the Ministry of Finance.
Boutheina Ben Yaghlane, former deputy of Ennahdha, held the post of director general of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations from April 22, 2016 until August 23, 2021, when she presented her resignation, invoking personal reasons.
Reminder of the facts
The case broke out on September 25, when the prosecution of the economic and financial judicial center had ordered the police custody of Ahmed Abdelkefi, founder of Tunisia values and major figure in the business world.
Suspected of involvement in financial and administrative corruption affairs linked to the CDC, it had been arrested by the central brigade of the National Guard of El Aouina.
According to the public prosecutor, serious indices of embezzlement had justified this measure. Investigators seek to determine the extent of irregularities, the alleged corruption mechanisms and the responsibilities of the managers involved.
The investigating judge of the financial judicial center must now continue the hearings of the other executives concerned and decide on judicial follow -ups. Several personalities in the financial sector could still be called upon to answer for allegedly allegedly.
