The question of the security of activists participating in the Global Sumud humanitarian flotilla remains at the heart of tensions in the Mediterranean. While 23 ships are continuing their journey to Gaza, 21 others have already been intercepted by the Israeli Navy, illustrating the Israeli strategy for strict control of the waters surrounding the Palestinian enclave.
According to the Israel Foreign Ministerpassengers of the flotilla, described as “Hamas-Sumud Passengers” on Twitter, are “safe and healthy” and would be being deportation to Europe. This declaration contrasts with the severity of the situation: 195 activists were arrestedof which 12 Tunisiansaccording to the official assessment communicated by Sumud global flotilla (GSF).

Despite these interceptions, one of the ships of the flotilla managed to enter the Palestinian waters off Gaza, now being just a few kilometers from the coasts of the enclave. This symbolic advance underlines the persistence and determination of activists, but it also exposes the vulnerability of participants in the face of Israeli military interventions.
