Tunisian customs announced, Monday, September 29, 2025, having thwarted the port of Radès an attempted smuggling of more than half a cannabis. A record operation that illustrates the intensification of the fight against drug trafficking in the country.

According to an official press release, the operation was carried out by agents of the border office of commercial operations. The drug, carefully hidden inside a trailer intended for a customs clearance warehouse, was detected thanks to the scanner and then confirmed by an assisted excavation of the Cynophile Brigade.

The secret device contained 5,380 cannabis plates, for a total weight of 572.5 kg, including packaging. After finding, a report was established and the file sent to the competent security services on the instruction of the prosecution.

Customs intensifies the fight against smuggling

This seizure comes as Tunisian customs multiplies controls. Colonel-Major Chokri Jabri, spokesperson for general management, had recently presented an impressive assessment: more than 10,926 judicial cases opened in eight months, with seizures of goods exceeding 156 million dinars.

The operations notably made it possible to intercept more than 538,000 narcotics, 154 kg of cannabis and 73 kg of cocaine throughout the territory.

This case occurs a few days after a vast security operation carried out jointly by the specialized units of the National Guard and Customs. This national draft allowed the arrest of more than 30 individuals involved in drug trafficking and the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, confirming the rise of the devices for the fight against this scourge.
