The International Commission for the lifting of the blockade on Gaza (ICBSG) announced that a new flotilla will join on Saturday, September 27, the International Solidarity Initiative “Mille Madleens for Gaza”. This operation comes in a climate of strong tensions after the recent attacks against the Soumoud flotilla.
According to the Commission, ships will set out from Italy to strengthen the flotilla of freedom. The objective: to challenge the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip and denounce the obstacles to the delivery of humanitarian aid intended for more than two million Palestinians. Zaher Birawi, president of the ICBSG, said that this initiative aims to cause popular, moral and legal mobilization to end the suffering of Gazaouis and prevent their forced displacement.
European supports, Arabic silence
The Commission condemned the repeated assault against ships of the Soumoud flotilla, described as “piracy on the high seas” and “blatant violation of international law”. She believes that these attacks illustrate the persistent will to impose a total blockade in Gaza.
The ICBSG welcomed the decision of Italy and Spain to send military ships to ensure the security of the participants, as well as the support expressed by many European and international parliamentarians. On the other hand, it regrets the “mutism” of several Western governments and the “inaction” of Arab and Muslim countries in the face of the current war.
In its declaration, the Commission called “all free men in the world” as well as the Arab and Muslim peoples to organize peaceful, creative and large -scale actions to protect the flotilla, put pressure in order to put an end to war, lift the blockade and open an immediate humanitarian corridor.
