A punching operation against informal trade intermediaries led this Wednesday, September 17, 2025 on Wednesday, on the issue of deposit mandates against several of them by the Ben Arous prosecution. These people will be judged by the correctional chamber for grabbing, speculation and manipulation of prices.

Last week, eleven individuals had been placed in police custody by agents of the sub-department of economic and financial surveys of the El Gorjani judicial police. This action is part of a vast national campaign carried out by the Ministry of the Interior, in coordination with the control services of the Ministry of Commerce, aimed at combating monopoly, speculation and manipulation of prices.

The speculation barons targeted

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the operations carried out throughout the territory have targeted the most influential actors in speculation, responsible for the artificial increase in the prices of fruits, vegetables and everyday consumer products. The wholesale and detail markets have been scrupulously inspected, and legal minutes have been written to ensure that the authors are prosecuted.

By this muscular campaign, the authorities intend to restore order on the markets and protect the purchasing power of citizens, strongly impacted by speculative drifts. Ben Arous’s prosecution decided to place the eleven people in pre -trial detention, pending their judgment by the correctional chamber.
