Tunisia’s intellectual memory is enriched thanks to the generosity of families of political and cultural figures. The national house of books has recently received several collections of books and references, offered by families wishing to preserve and share the documentary heritage of their loved ones.

Among these gifts, the family of the late Mohamed Mzali, former Prime Minister, and his wife Fathia Mokhtar Mzali, offered the couple’s personal library. Composed of precious references in philosophy, education, sport and politics, this collection constitutes a significant contribution to the national documentary fund.

For his part, Sabah Zoghlami, widow of the academic Taoufik Ayadi, sold the library of her husband, specialist in modern history. This collection, the fruit of decades of teaching at the University of Tunis, has formed several generations of Tunisian historians since the 1970s and now represents a treasure for researchers.

The conservative and historian Abdelaziz Doulatli also donated his personal library, rich in works on the history of art, archeology and architecture. These collections contain many rare and precious books, thus consolidating the role of the Dar al-Kutub al-Wataniya in the preservation of the Tunisian intellectual heritage.

Finally, the director general of the Maison des Books Khaled Kachir, accompanied by several executives, went to the home of the family of the late Chadhli Klibi to finalize the integration of the library of the Minister of Culture in the national funds.

These initiatives testify to the importance of the conservation of knowledge and cultural heritage for Tunisian society. Each donation enriches the national fund, providing researchers and the general public with precious resources to better understand the history and culture of the country.
