On the occasion of the start of the school year and university, the President of the Kaïs Saïed republic chaired, this Sunday, September 15, a meeting devoted to the examination of the preparations for this school year and to the question of the reform of the education and university system.

Took part in this meeting Khaled Nouri, Minister of the Interior, and Rachid Amri, Minister of Transport, as well as members of the Higher Education and Education Council: Nourredine Nouri, Minister of Education, Riadh Chooud, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Ahmed Bouhali, Minister of Religious Affairs, Asma Jebari, Minister of Family, Woman, Childhood and Essarrafi, Minister of Cultural Affairs.

At the opening of the session, the head of state highlighted the need for global support for students, students and the whole of the educational family, claiming that the expected reform must be “global” and put an end to the “false reforms” of the past, which led to opposite results to their objectives.

He recalled that the Higher Council for Education and Education was created by the Constitution to preserve the education system for internal political tightness and the injunctions from abroad. He insisted on the national duty to take charge of the victims of these former politicians in order to reintegrate them in the process of national production and construction.

Kaïs Saïed said that “education is a right for all, like water and air”, and that education, teaching and culture are sectors of sovereignty, essential for forming new generations capable of protecting society from all forms of drifts.

The president also insisted on the need to guarantee fair and adequate learning conditions in all regions of the country, recalling that the Constitution makes education compulsory until the age of 16. He denounced the “systematic sabotage” of programs, infrastructure and means of transport, which contributed to the worsening of illiteracy, while “no more illiterate should have existed”.

He called for immediate treatment of the problems accumulated over the decades, by involving all the parties concerned to remove the obstacles that hinder students, students and the whole educational family. He also gave instructions to intensify efforts to facilitate school transport and strengthen the presence of safety patrols around schools and establishments, in order to protect students from abuses, crime and in particular against drugs.

In conclusion, Kaïs Saïed recalled that “when the conditions were favorable to them, Tunisian and Tunisians shone not only in Tunisia, but everywhere in the world”, affirming that “Tunisia is a lighthouse from which creativity radiates and springs the light”.
