This Monday, September 15, Tunisia saw its start of the school year with 2,325,443 preschool students, basic and secondary education who find the school benches. Supervised by nearly 160,000 teachers, they will start a new year marked by significant investments in infrastructure and school equipment.
Record workforce
Among the students, there are 61,000 children in preschool, 1,161,638 in primary, 570,655 in colleges (general and technical) and 532,150 in secondary school.
The school network is expanding this year to reach 6,164 establishments, including 4,596 primary schools (+8) and 1568 colleges and high schools (+7).
Reinforced services
The Ministry of Education assured that catering and accommodation will be operational as soon as the canteens and boarding schools are back. In parallel, the school infrastructure rehabilitation program continues, as is cooperation with the Ministry of Transport to guarantee school transport via dedicated buses.
Over 480 MD invested
In order to improve reception conditions, more than 480 million dinars have been mobilized. These funds allowed the construction of new establishments, the development of 231 schools, the installation of 31 prefabricated rooms, the creation of 34 fences, as well as the establishment of surveillance cameras in 590 establishments, including 90 thanks to the support of civil society.
On the equipment side, schools will benefit from 2,260 mobile computer laboratories (nearly 29,380 laptops), 17,585 office computers, 4,600 photocopiers and 4,500 multifunction printers. In addition, 85,000 school furniture was acquired to equip around 5,700 classrooms from the start of the school year.
