A young man was arrested in Tunis after being filmed brandishing a dummy weapon against a security patrol during the passage of the Soumoud flotilla in Sidi Bou Saïd. The prosecution ordered his placement in police custody while waiting for his appearance to justice.
A video broadcast on social networks shows the suspect, the hooded face, leaving the sunroof of a 4 × 4 and pointing a dummy weapon to a police vehicle. Other recordings reveal the same individual shaking up a security guard on site. The incident occurred on the sidelines of the reception of the Soumoud flotilla in the northern suburbs of Tunis.
The prosecution at the Tunis court of first instance immediately ordered the young man’s placement in police custody. He will be prosecuted for his actions and translates to justice in the coming days.
The Soumoud flotilla, recently arrived at the Bizerte marina and then welcomed Sidi Bou Saïd, aroused a strong security presence and attracted many citizens. It is in this context that the incident occurred, while the police ensured control of traffic and the safety of the premises.
