Tunisie Telecom, a major player in the construction of the national digital economy

The telecommunications sector in Tunisia is experiencing a pivotal step with the transition to fiber optic technologies, considered as the backbone of very high speed Internet. In this dynamic, Tunisie Telecom implements an ambitious strategy based on the progressive passage of the traditional copper network to a modern network based on optical fiber.

This evolution is a real lever for the national digital transformation process. It also consolidates the position of Tunisia as a promising regional hub in the field of information and communication technologies, investment in fiber optics forming the solid base of the launch of projects such as intelligent cities and intelligent transport systems, future issues that cannot be reached without advanced infrastructure.

The passage from Tunisie Telecom from Copper to fiber optics translates a long -term strategic vision which transforms the company into much more than a simple telecom operator, by positioning it as a key player in the construction of the national digital economy.

This strategy is not intended only to improve Internet speed for subscribers, but also aims to modernize the national network, allowing the launch of 5G and smart applications.

In December 2023, Tunisie Telecom conducted a pioneering experience by carrying out the first test of the “Giga Rapido” service at 1 Gigabit per second, thus confirming its role as a leader in the supply of advanced digital solutions.

Strong growth in indicators

To provide optimal quality of Internet services to all of its customers, individuals and public and private institutions, Tunisie Telecom has deployed more than 60,000 km of fiber optics covering all the country’s governorates, without exception.

The fiber optic services have encountered strong membership, in particular thanks to the generalization of this technology in all regions via the realization of a project by governorate.
