The Ministry of Commerce increased the monthly sugar quantities for households by 25 %, from 10,000 to 12,500 tonnes.

It also stored around 12,000 tonnes of potatoes, in addition to the refrigerated stocks held by the private sector, in anticipation of the fall deficit, said Ramzi Trabelsi, director of the National Observatory for supply and prices at the Ministry of Commerce.

Guest of the National Radio, Monday, September 8, 2025, he said that an exceptional quantity of coffee has been distributed: 100 tonnes for small roasters and 50 tonnes for large commercial areas, to improve the available offer.

Regarding red meats, Trabelsi has announced that 20 tonnes of refrigerated lamb would be distributed each week at differentiated prices set at 38,900 dinars per kilogram.

In the same context, the manager revealed that more than 34 tonnes of beef had been distributed during the summer period.

Trabelsi added that the ministry would continue to distribute additional quantities of red meat in the coming weeks to regulate the market.
