There Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) On Friday published a new circular revising the ceilings and terms of transfer to currencies for studies and internships abroad, aimed at facilitating the mobility of Tunisian students.

Increase in ceilings for study and stay costs

According to the new circular, the installation costs go from 4000 to 6000 dinars per university or school year.

Stay costs are now set at 4,000 dinars per month, compared to 3000 dinars before.

An important novelty concerns academic internships abroad, which can now benefit from foreign currency transfers for study and stay costs, when they previously required special authorizations.

Transfer methods and guarantees

Students will be able to make their transfers via international transfers, checks or payment cards, dedicated to installation and stay allowances.

The circular also introduces new guarantees:

  • Simplified file with the possibility of provisional documents in the absence of the registration certificate, compulsory regularization within three months.
  • In the event of refusal of visa or abandonment of studies, the transferred funds must be recovered in 15 days and returned to dinars within 60 days.
