The Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, proposed on Friday in Algiers the creation of a regional fair bringing Tunisia, Algeria, Libya and Mauritania. The main objective is to strengthen food security in the region while deepening economic integration between these four countries.

This proposal was made during a tripartite meeting with his Algerian counterpart Kamel Rezig and the Mauritanian Minister of Commerce, Zeineb Ahmednah, on the sidelines of the 4th edition of the Inter -African Trade Fair (IATF2025), which is held from September 4 to 10 in Algiers.

According to the TAP agency, Samir Abid insisted on the importance of developing common projects and exploiting economic complementarities in order to build a concerted strategic vision on food security and regional trade.

The Tunisian pavilion: export showcase

In the morning, the minister inaugurated the Tunisian pavilion at the IATF2025, covering 304 m² and bringing together 24 exporting companies, including 12 SMEs, 8 craftsmen and 4 start-ups.

The sectors represented include textiles, leather, cosmetics, automotive, building materials and renewable energies. An institutional space is also arranged, bringing together CEPEX, FIPA, ONT, ONAT and the ZLECAF National Committee.

Cooperation and opening onto the continent

Samir Abid took part in the opening of the African Automobile Salon, alongside the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, and the Algerian Minister Kamel Rezig.

This Tunisian initiative is part of a dynamic of Maghreb and African cooperation, aimed at securing food supply while strengthening regional trade.
