Tunisia: call for tenders for the purchase of 125,000 tonnes of tender wheat

European merchants announced Tunisia’s Cereal Office on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, launched an international call for tenders for the acquisition of around 125,000 tonnes of tender wheat.

The cereal office, responsible for importing and supplying the local market, opened a call for tenders for the purchase of 125,000 tonnes of tender wheat. Submissions are expected until Wednesday, September 3, 2025, reports Reuters.

Despite an increasing local production, Tunisia remains dependent on imports to balance its supply. The traders also point out that the international situation, marked by the volatility of cereal prices, makes these purchases strategic for the stability of the domestic market.

Record collection

A few days earlier, on August 31, the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP) announced a record collection of 12 million quintals of cereals for the 2025 agricultural season, the best result of the last five years. This progression is an asset to strengthen food security and reduce the import bill.
