The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, went in the evening of September 1 At the heart of the capital to inspect two emblematic sites: Place Barcelona and Sweat Monji Bali. These spaces are currently the subject of a vast redevelopment project under the responsibility of military engineering.
Place Barcelona, long considered a degraded and chaotic area, has experienced a real transformation. This formerly abandoned place is now on the way to becoming a modern and ordered urban space, erasing years of negligence.
A few hundred meters away, the Monji Bali square is also in the final rehabilitation phase. The works, deemed of high quality by observers, should soon offer residents a new, secure and attractive public space.
During this visit, Kaïs Saïed exchanged directly with citizens who came to meet him, taking note of their daily concerns. The Head of State insisted on the continuity of current efforts, claiming that “work continues without interruption” and that the objective remains the search for “radical and sustainable” solutions in all areas.
This initiative is part of a broader approach to urban rehabilitation already illustrated by the renovation of the Pasteur place and by other projects in the capital. For the president, these projects must symbolize the return of order and the common good in the Tunisian public space.
Beyond the efforts made by military engineering and the State to rehabilitate these places, the sustainability of these spaces also depends on the commitment of citizens. Preserving cleanliness, respecting the developments and adopting responsible behavior are essential conditions for the Barcelona and Monji Bali squares to remain pleasant living spaces, open to all and reflect the image of a modern and orderly capital.
