In an interview with Anis Touati, diplomat at the Tunisia Embassy in Beijing, reported by the Tunis Africa Press agency (TAP) on August 29, 2025, he underlines how the Tunisia – Chine strategic partnership benefits Tunisian citizens and the country’s economy.

Tunisian students: unprecedented access to excellence

  • “Tunisia benefits from academic and research programs that open up new perspectives for our students,” says Touati.
  • The Tunisian company in Beijing supports students on the administrative, legal and academic level, guaranteeing optimal study conditions.
  • Initiatives like Seeds for the Future and Huawei Ict Academy have enabled Tunisian students to win international medals, reflecting the influence of Tunisian skills.
  • The recent scientific and technological agreement strengthens cooperation and creates an environment conducive to innovation for Tunisian students.

Concrete benefits for the Tunisian economy

  • The partnership opens opportunities in strategic sectors: digital, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, infrastructure and health.
  • Tunisia is positioned as regional hub: access to African and Mediterranean markets, integration into the Belt & Road since 2018, and strengthening its competitiveness to attract investments.
  • During the China – Arabic Salon (August 28–31, 2025), Tunisia presented its innovative projects and identified new investment opportunities, demonstrating the tangible economic potential of the country’s partnership.

Tunisian diplomacy turned towards efficiency

  • “The partnership strengthens the capacities of our students and stimulates our strategic sectors,” said Touati.
  • The emphasis remains on the benefits for Tunisia, combining human and economic development, and consolidating its place on the regional and international scene.
