Tunis, August 30-31, 2025- Once again, Tunis-Carthage International Airport was the scene of major disruptions, plunging passengers in a real ordeal. The long queues, saturated halls and repeated announcements of delayed flights created an atmosphere of confusion and frustration.

Recurring demonstrations

These incidents follow a demonstration organized Thursday, August 28 by around 500 contractual agents of Tunisair Handling. Baggers, bus drivers, registration agents and boarding staff demanded the regularization of their professional status, in particular their tenure after several years of service.

According to an employee interviewed by Mosaic FMthese agents, recruited in 2018, have still not obtained official contracts or the agreed basic salary. This situation is not exceptional: as had already documented Webdo In July 2025, disturbances in Tunis-Carthage became a routine, regularly affecting air traffic and passenger comfort.

Videos relayed on social networks show passengers desperately looking for information, while the staff seem overwhelmed by the situation.

Tunis-Carthage Airport is regularly confronted with this type of crisis, especially during social movements or periods of strong crowds.

  • International airport ranking: last in the world according to Airhelp 2025 (5.73/10).
  • Tunisair: classified 109ᵉ out of 800 companies according to Airhelp 2024.

This new weekend of disturbances underlines the structural and organizational failures of the airport and the need for more effective management of social movements, as well as clear and rapid communication to limit the impact on passengers and restore confidence in the national company.
