The Mufti of the Tunisian Republic, Hichem Ben Mahmoud, announced on Tuesday in a press release, that the value of the Zakat al-Fitr for this year 1446 of the Hegira / 2025 was set to two dinars (2000 millimes).
The press release specifies that this alms must be paid from the dawn of the day of Eid al-Fitr and before the prayer of Eid.
He adds that “the amount of this zakat corresponds to a prophetic * sâ ‘ * given in the form of the basic food of the inhabitants of the country, such as wheat, barley, dates or other foodstuffs, and that it is also allowed to pay it in silver”.
The mufti also explained that if the zakat is paid after the prayer of Eid, it is considered as an ordinary alms but remains an unanswered obligation which must be accomplished. He added that it is possible to pay it two or three days before Eid according to the Malikite school, while Hanafite and Chafite schools allow its payment even earlier.
