The Minister of Commerce and Export Development, Samir Abid, said, this Wednesday, “the sufficient availability of raw materials in 2025, including wheat and its derivatives, sugar, tea and coffee”, adding that “the ministry has set up a special program to cover the increase in demand during the tourist season, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism”.
This follows a question posed by deputy Ghassan Yamoun, during a plenary session in the Parliament, concerning the financing of the support gap of industrial companies and tourist units, as well as the increase in Djerba in subsidized raw materials.
Abid said that a joint meeting will be organized with the Ministry of Tourism to discuss the main preparations planned for the tourist season in Djerba and in the country in general.
The Minister also said that “the instability of the offer, attempts to monopoly and speculation affected the availability of basic products on the island of Djerba in particular and in other regions in general”, adding that “the country is currently experiencing stability in the supply of basic and others, in order to preserve the housewife and the purchasing power of citizens”.
