The Ministry of Transport wanted to clarify the situation concerning the Sfax metro project, claiming that the African Development Bank (BAD) maintains its financial commitment.

This announcement comes after speculation on a possible hardening of the financing conditions on the part of the institution.

According to a statement published on Wednesday, March 26, the Ministry of Transport confirmed that the AfDB is working closely with the Ministries of Economy and Planning to accelerate the launch of the first phase of the project. The objective is to offer the inhabitants of Sfax a modern transport network and in accordance with the required safety and quality standards.

This structuring project, whose overall cost is estimated at 2000 million dinars, provides for the establishment of a public transport network covering 70 km, including two metro lines and three high quality bus lines. Its realization aims to improve urban mobility in the region and meet the growing expectations of users.
