The Minister of the Interior, Khaled Nouri, took part on Monday in London, at the “summit on border security: organized crime in the field of migration”, an event bringing together 46 countries and 37 ministers.

In his intervention, he stressed that the fight against irregular migration exceeds the capacities of any state, even with sufficient human and material resources. He thus called for enhanced coordination between nations and international organizations to deal with this phenomenon.

The Minister insisted on the need to adopt an approach based on partnership and the sharing of responsibilities, in accordance with the universal principles of human rights. He also emphasized the importance of treating the deep causes of irregular migration, in particular the inequalities in development between countries of origin and those of destination.

During his speech, Khaled Nouri spoke of the fight against crimes related to irregular migration, in particular the dismantling of smuggling networks and the control of financial flows supplying these activities. The first day of the summit, opened by the British Prime Minister, was marked by a ministerial meeting chaired by Yvette Cooper, British Interior Minister.

On the sidelines of the summit, the minister multiplied bilateral interviews with his British, Italian, Iraqi, Austrian, French and Nigerian counterparts. He also met the British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs responsible for the Middle East and North Africa, in order to discuss regional security issues.

This summit, organized by the United Kingdom over two days, brings together representatives of international institutions such as the European Union, the Council of Europe and the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime, as well as digital giants like X, Meta and Tiktok. The objective is to strengthen international cooperation to combat irregular migration and the cross -border crimes linked to it.
