The ability to fill the dams in Tunisia has reached 35.9 % in recent days, as indicated this Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Kamel Mouldeb, head of the management of the general administration of rural engineering and water operations at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.

During its intervention on national radio waves, Mouldeb said that the stock of drinking water in the dams amounts to 621 million cubic meters, or around 73 % of the total storage capacity.

He reaffirmed that next summer will not experience any problems with regard to drinking water supply.

Kamel Mouldeb also indicated that the daily consumption of drinking water in Tunisia varies between 1.5 and 2 million cubic meters.

On the other hand, it revealed that the stock of water at this period is 12 million cubic meters lower than the same period of 2024. He explained that the precipitation recorded in the country had beneficial effects, especially in the Northeast, the East Center and the Southeast, but that the quantities have not been so important in the North West regions.
