LTDH is sounding the alarm

The Tunisian League for Human Rights (LTDH) denounced the violence inflicted on Tunisian migrants in an irregular situation in Europe, which undergo physical and psychological abuses during their detention or forced expulsion. These practices violate international agreements, in particular the Geneva Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights.

Faced with this situation, the LTDH calls on the Tunisian authorities to intervene quickly, to initiate negotiations with the European countries concerned and to guarantee the protection of the fundamental rights of Tunisian migrants. The organization also insists on the need to strengthen legal support for migrants and to review bilateral and multilateral migratory agreements to adapt them to the imperatives of national sovereignty.

The migratory question between Tunisia and Europe remains a complex challenge, but LTDH recalls that the protection of migrants should not be overlooked.
