Inflation reached 5.9% in March 2025, compared to 5.7% in February. This month, marked by Ramadan, saw the prices of food products increase by 7.8%, while those of clothing and shoes increased by 11.7%.
Food prices have particularly increased, with notable increases for lamb meat (+21.9%), fresh vegetables (+20%) and fresh fruit (+15%). On the other hand, food oils fell by 19.9%. Manufactured products increased by 5.6%, mainly due to increases in the clothing sector (+11.7%) and cleaning products (+4.7%). The services saw an increase of 4.7%, especially in restaurants and cafes (+11.3%).
In March, the underlying inflation remained stable at 5.7%, while free products prices increased by 7.2%. Free food products increased by 8.7%, compared to only 1.1% for products at supervised prices.
Finally, in March, prices increased by 0.9%compared to the previous month, mainly due to food products (+2%) and clothing (+2.9%). The fresh food and manufactured products are the main contributors to this inflation.
