On April 8, 2025, Brahim Bouderbala, president of the Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP), welcomed Anne Gueguen, French ambassador to Tunisia, at the Palais du Bardo.
The discussions mainly focused on parliamentary relations, with a particular emphasis on the importance of direct exchanges between Tunisian and French deputies. These meetings are perceived as essential to strengthen links and promote harmonious bilateral development. The ambassador announced the upcoming visit to a delegation from the French Senate, an event that Bouderbala welcomed favorably, highlighting the opportunities he opens for parliamentary cooperation.
The question of irregular immigration has also been addressed, a common challenge for Tunisia and France. Bouderbala recalled Tunisia’s commitment to respect international conventions and insisted on the importance of working together for regional stability.
On the economic and cultural level, the French ambassador highlighted the many partnerships between the two countries, especially in education, vocational training and artificial intelligence. She also underlined France’s efforts to facilitate the obtaining of visas, thus facilitating exchanges between peoples.
Finally, Bouderbala expressed the will of Tunisia to further strengthen this cooperation, especially in the economic, academic and cultural sectors, and recalled the ongoing legislative reforms to improve the life of Tunisian citizens.
