The Tunisian Minister of the Interior, Khaled Nouri, participated this Friday, April 11, 2025 in Naples on Friday, April 11, 2025 in the second meeting of the steering committee for the voluntary return of irregular migrants, alongside his Italian, Algerian and Libyan counterparts.

This meeting, organized on the initiative of Italian Minister Matteo Piantedosi, aimed to strengthen cooperation between the countries concerned in the face of migratory pressure in the Mediterranean.

During his intervention, Khaled Nouri firmly reaffirmed the position of Tunisia. He pointed out that Tunisia, although hit hard by the influx of irregular migrants because of its proximity to Europe, categorically refuses to become a land of resettlement or a transit corridor for migratory flows.

The Minister insisted on the commitment of Tunisian security and military forces to secure borders, fight against trafficking networks and prevent any attempted entry of illegal, while respecting international standards in terms of humanitarian rescue and assistance.

He also pleaded for a global and sustainable approach, based on a fair sharing of responsibilities, the economic development of countries of origin and the promotion of legal and organized migration paths.

On the sidelines of Reunion, Khaled Nouri had bilateral interviews with his Algerian and Libyan counterparts, and co -chaired with Matteo Piantedosi a working session aimed at strengthening security cooperation between Tunisia and Italy on migratory flow management.
