Towards reinforced protection of workers in the face of dismissal

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, reaffirmed Friday April 11, 2025, the need to guarantee the fundamental rights of workers, in particular those facing layoffs for economic, technical or technological reasons.

This declaration comes during an interview at the Palais de Carthage with the Minister of Social Affairs, Issam Lahmar, devoted to the bill supervising the dismissal allowances.

According to a press release from the presidency, the Head of State called for a deep overhaul of the current legal framework, insisting on the need to break with the old legislation and amendment proposals deemed insufficient.

“This bill must be fair, inclusive and adapted to the realities of the world of work, especially in the face of economic and technological changes,” said the president.

Beyond the legislative text, Kais Saied reiterated his attachment to a strong and equitable social policy. He recalled that social stability constitutes, according to him, the essential condition of a balanced development, stressing that the state will remain alongside the most vulnerable.

This orientation is part of a broader vision of the president, aimed at protecting social rights while ensuring a gradual adaptation of the Tunisian economy to the requirements of digital and industrial transformation.
