The United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) decorated on Tuesday, April 15, 128 Tunisian soldiers, including seven women, for their remarkable contribution to the stability of the country.

These soldiers, members of the Tunisian helicopter unit, received the United Nations medal of honor after four years of service, marked by 218 air missions and 787 hours of flight without incident in the last six months.

The ceremony was held at the base of the Tunisian battalion, in the presence of high Central African officers and UN officials. The command praised the exemplarity of the unit and its performances in operations, logistical support and coordination of staff, emphasizing the values of discipline, neutrality and solidarity inherited from a military tradition of participation in the peace missions dating back to 1961.

This symbolic gesture comes in a still painful context for the Tunisian mission. On February 12, 2025, a Tunisian blue helmet was killed during a patrol near the border with Chad. This attack had targeted the Tunisian rapid intervention company, engaged under the banner of the Minusca since June 2021.
