The accusation chamber specializing in financial corruption affairs near the Tunis Court of Appeal ruled on Wednesday April 16, 2025, on the release requests presented by the lawyers of Abdelaziz Makhloufi, former president of the Sfaxian sports club, and three others accused as part of the Henchir Chaâl affair. All requests have been rejected, thus confirming the maintenance of suspects.
The case relates to serious suspicions of financial corruption and mismanagement within the agricultural complex of Henchir Chaâl, in the governorate of Sfax. According to the first elements of the survey, several irregularities were noted in the management of domain resources, in particular in matters of public procurement, farm and subsidy management.
In addition to Makhloufi, the former administrative director of Henchir Chaâl, as well as a representative of the Ministry of Finance, are also prosecuted to the board of directors of the technical center of organic farming. The investigations in progress aim to determine the extent of responsibilities and to establish any embezzlement of public funds.
This case follows the impromptu visit of the Kais Saied president, on November 6, 2024, to the agricultural field of Henchir Chaâl, where he denounced the faulty management of the exploitation and highlighted suspicions of poor management of public goods, accompanied by suspicions of corruption.
