Tunisia continues to assert its pioneer position in Africa in the field of organ transplants. On April 16, 2025, a medical and paramedical team from the Idrissa Pouye hospital in Dakar participated in a successful rein transplant operation at the Fattouma Bourguiba de Monastir university hospital.
This intervention is part of a tripartite partnership between the Tunisian establishment, the Senegalese hospital and the National Center for the promotion of organ transplantation. Objective: support Senegal in the launch of its first kidney transplants on its territory by the end of the year, based on Tunisian expertise.
Beyond the surgical procedure, this cooperation is based on a model of skills exchange, self-financing and African health sovereignty. It testifies to Tunisia’s desire to promote regional medical integration based on training, experience sharing and the transfer of know-how.
By welcoming this type of collaborations, Tunisia confirms its engine role in the development of high -performance and united health systems in Africa.
