Tunisian President Kais Saied received, Friday April 18, 2025 at the Palais de Carthage, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdel Ati, carrying a handwritten message from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi.
This meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the historical links between the two countries and to express a common desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic, commercial, cultural and energy fields, upstream of the next meeting of the Tuniso-Egyptian High Commission.
President Saied highlighted the importance of coordinating the positions of the two countries in the face of major regional challenges. He also reiterated the firm position of Tunisia in favor of the Palestinian people.
The Egyptian minister praised Kais Saied’s positions, which he described as “nationalists and panarabs”, stressing the convergence of views on major Arab issues, notably the crisis in Libya, Sudan, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon. He also mentioned Egypt’s efforts, in coordination with Qatar, to establish a cease-fire in Gaza and implement a reconstruction plan adopted at the summit of Cairo.
The meeting marked an important step in the strengthening of Tunisian-Egyptian relations and diplomatic coordination in a regional context in full change.
