The investigating judge at the Kasserine court of first instance ordered, on Friday, ordered the incarceration of several persons in three separate cases linked to corruption and the embezzlement of public funds, according to the official spokesperson for the courts of Kasserine, Imed El Omri.
Two deposit mandates were issued against the current municipal collector of Zahrouni and his predecessor, prosecuted for falsification of documents and embezzlement of public funds.
In another case, in connection with construction of a youth center in the delegation of Foussana, the judge also ordered the imprisonment of an entrepreneur and a concrete engineer. Eight other people were heard, including an architect under judicial supervision with a ban on leaving the territory.
A third detention measure was pronounced against an architect, this time as part of a road project connecting the village of Bouhanach to downtown Thala. A former administrative manager involved in the file has been released.
These legal proceedings were initiated following inspection visits carried out previously by the governor of Kasserine, Ziad Trabelsi, who seized justice in the face of suspicions of mismanagement and embezzlement of public funds in several municipal projects.
