Lawyer and former administrative judge Ahmed Souab was placed in police custody for a period of 48 hours, confirmed Bassem Trifi, president of the Tunisian League for Human Rights. He was transferred to the headquarters of the Central Investigation Unit in terrorist crimes in Bouchoucha, in Tunis.
His arrest took place in the morning on Monday April 21, 2025, at his home, where a dozen police officers arrested.
According to first information available, this measure would be linked to a recent media declaration, held on the sidelines of the conspiracy trial against state security. Ahmed Souab exercises there as an active member of the defendant’s defense committee.
According to his lawyers, the authorities invoked the anti -terrorist law to prohibit them from any contact with their client during the first 48 hours of his detention.
A recognized lawyer, Ahmed Souab is known for his critical positions with regard to power.
