Tunisia and Saudi Arabia explore new paths of cooperation in the strategic fields of health, including pediatric cardiac surgery, ophthalmology, bone marrow and organ transplant, as well as improving access to care in disadvantaged regions.
This was declared, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the Minister of Health Mustapha Ferjani, after a meeting with a Saudi delegation led by the adviser of the Royal Cabinet Abdullah Al Rabiah, also president of the center of King Salman for aid and humanitarian action.
The Minister stressed that this visit marks an important step for the launch of common social impact projects. He notably mentioned humanitarian initiatives in sensitive specialties such as pediatric cardiac surgery and organ transplant, in coordination with the actions of the Center of King Salman.
Ferjani praised the efforts of this center and the quality of the projects already carried out, highlighting the excellence of Tunisian-Saudi relations, based on solidarity and shared interest in the well-being of populations.
For his part, Abdullah Al Rabiah said, during an audience with the President of the Kais Republic Saied, the sincere will of Saudi Arabia to support Tunisia in the development of its health system. He transmitted a message of friendship from the Saudi crown prince and underlined the convergence of views between the two heads of state.
He announced the imminent arrival, on Thursday, April 24, of a team of Saudi doctors equipped with high -tech instruments, to carry out complex surgical interventions in Tunisia. This visit also aims to strengthen partnerships in the treatment of cancers, ophthalmological diseases and in the fields of grafts.
A commitment followed at the highest level
The monitoring of cooperation projects will be ensured directly by the authorities of the two countries, said the Saudi representative.
