The investigating judge with the judicial center for the fight against terrorism issued, this Wednesday, April 23, 2025, a warrant for deposit against the lawyer and former magistrate Ahmed Souab.
This decision comes after his appearance in the judicial center to fight terrorism within the framework of a judicial inquiry open against him, in connection with his critical public declarations with regard to the criminal chamber specializing in terrorism affairs.
According to judicial sources, the remarks made by Maître Souab have been judged likely to hinder the proper functioning of justice or to influence a case in progress, in this case that of the alleged conspiracy against state security.
An investigating judge with the judicial center for the fight against terrorism ordered, Monday, April 21, 2025, the placement in custody of the lawyer and former administrative judge. The public prosecutor’s office at the Tunis Court of Appeal ordered the opening of judicial information against him with the pole, for a series of accusations related to terrorism as well as related ordinary crimes.
These accusations include in particular: the threat of committing terrorist acts in order to force a person to act or to refrain from it, endangering a person benefiting from protection, and threats punishable by criminal sanctions.
