A limited ministerial council was held this Wednesday, April 23, 2025, under the chairmanship of the government’s heading, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, to discuss the revival of the tourism sector.

The government’s heading has welcomed the recent improvement of indicators in the sector, highlighting its central role in the national economy, particularly in terms of jobs, regional development and foreign currency reserves.

Among the priorities mentioned: the diversification of the offer beyond seaside tourism, by valuing the cultural, Saharan, ecological, sports and medical assets of the country. The objective is to attract visitors all year round and throughout the territory.

The government also intends to improve the quality of services, strengthen the training of professionals in the sector and simplify procedures in ports, airports and border posts, to guarantee fluid reception for tourists and Tunisians from abroad.

The ministerial council also emphasized the digitalization of the sector, both for the promotion of the Tunisian destination and for the modernization of services. Particular support will be provided to start-ups and project leaders in this area.

The government’s heading has finally called for close coordination between the various ministries and structures concerned, in order to remove obstacles, meet the expectations of professionals and strengthen the competitiveness of Tunisian tourism on a regional and international scale.
