The Tahar Sfar university hospital in Mahdia has today inaugurated the largest oxygen generator in Africa, with a capacity of 80 m³/hour, donation from the Center King Salman for help and humanitarian action, reports the TAP agency.

This advanced installation includes a production, cooling and oxygen distribution unit, essential for emergency services and operating blocks.

During the ceremony, Doctor Abdullah Al Rabeeah recalled the vital importance of medical oxygen in intensive care, especially in surgery. He also underlined continuous cooperation between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia, which has already provided five generators during the Pandemic of Covid-19.

This project is part of a larger strategy aimed at strengthening the capacities of the Tunisian health sector. A specialized Saudi team recently started a campaign of 50 cochlear implants for children in collaboration with Tunisian doctors.

Initiatives in cardiac surgery, transplants and ophthalmology are also being studied. For Abderrazek Bouzouita, senior official of the Ministry of Health, this infrastructure represents a major asset for the modernization of the hospital and the improvement of access to quality care.
