Reform of the Labor Code: the UGTT denounces its exclusion

The Tunisian Labor Union (UGTT) expressed its keen dissatisfaction with the method adopted by the Government for the revision of the Labor Code.

In a statement published on Monday, April 28, the union center on Monday, April 28, condemned a “policy of deliberate exclusion”, denounced the absence of consultation with workers’ representatives, unlike the obligations provided for by law and international conventions.

The UGTT criticizes the authorities for having favored employers’ proposals by neglecting the opinion of the unions, thus compromising the balance between the social partners. She also criticizes the government project, deemed vague, likely to open the way for new forms of exploitation of workers.

Guest on Midi Show, Hedi Dahmene, expert with the UGTT, recalled that the power station has pleaded for three years for a complete revision of the entire social legislation. He said that the current government approach, which is limited to a few components such as contracts and subcontracting, is insufficient.

The UGTT insists on the need to involve all social parties within the framework of the National Council for Social Dialogue and announces the upcoming publication of its detailed remarks on each article of the project, which it will transmit to the Assembly of People’s Representatives.
