The municipality of Tunis published, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a press release reminiscent of traders and occupants of the public road the need to comply with the regulations.
Several overruns have been noted, in particular the abusive exploitation of the public domain and the non-compliance with the authorizations issued.
A one -month -old ultimatum
The secretary general responsible for managing the business of the municipality, Lotfi Dachraoui, called the owners of businesses and all the occupants of the public road to regularize their situation within one month from the date of the press release.
After this period, the municipality will apply immediate withdrawal measures for all non -compliant facilities.
Authorization to exercise
Last June, the governorate of Tunis had already launched an ultimatum to informal merchants who obtained authorization to exercise in converted spaces which were allocated to them, as part of a reorganization of street trade.
The merchants concerned must now settle in one of the following locations: the Souk Moncef Bey, the central market, Sidi El Béchir, rue Al Jazira, rue Mongi Slim.
