The spokesman for the National Guard, Colonel Houssam Eddine Jebabli, said that the various national guard units managed, during the past week, to arrest around 3,500 individuals sought for their involvement in criminal cases.
Among them are the subject of judicial sentences as well as prison escapees.
Speaking today on FM mosaic waves, Jebabli clarified that these arrests were carried out as part of an ambush and search operations organized by the various teams of the National Guard, within the framework of their continuous efforts to combat crime.
Regarding the fight against drug trafficking, the colonel stressed that the guard units are making “colossal” efforts to dismantle the narcotrafiating networks. He spoke of a historic “historic” operation, during which more than a million drug tablets were seized.
He also announced that a detailed assessment of the total amount of drugs confiscated since the beginning of the year will be communicated in the coming days.
