After the circulation of false information and old videos linked to the health and medication sector, the Ministry of Health published a clarification press release this Wednesday, August 27, 2025. He claims that the national drug strategy aims to guarantee the availability of treatments and to rationalize its use, and not to deprive patients of care.
Rumors on social networks
In recent days, old rumors and videos have circulated on social networks, suggesting that patients were likely to be deprived of certain drugs.
In response, the Ministry of Health has published a clarification press release. He specifies that his message of August 24, 2025, relating to the national drug system, was misinterpreted and used for purposes in contrast to its initial objective.
The national drug strategy
The ministry recalls that:
The national drug policy is based on three priorities, namely, ensuring the sustainability of the strategic stock, in order to avoid any break; Encourage the prescription of registered and generic drugs, to control costs and guarantee efficiency; And guarantee patient access to all essential treatments, without exception.
The press release stresses that rationalization of the use of medication is a recognized scientific practice in all countries. It consists in prescribing the right dose, for the right duration, and in the right indication, in order to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment.
A development in the face of controversies
The ministry formally denies that its approach aims to limit patient access to care. On the contrary, it claims that the objective is to secure supply and guarantee the continuity of access to treatments, especially in a context of tensions in the global drug markets.
Challenges
The question of the drug is sensitive in Tunisia, where occasional shortages have often fueled patient concerns. In its press release, the ministry warns against the false information circulating, accusing certain actors of seeking to destabilize and disturb the work in progress to modernize the health system and strengthen the availability of treatments.
