Getting married in Tunisia now costs more than 50,000 dinars, according to an estimate of the Tunisian organization for consumer orientation

The cost of a marriage in Tunisia today exceeds 50,000 dinars, according to a recent estimate of the Tunisian organization for consumer orientation. This assessment, based on the average prices on the market, includes all the expenses related to the installation of the couple, the wedding ceremony, the purchase of jewelry, aesthetic care, the rental of the party room as well as other costs considered as essential.

The president of the organization, Lotfi Riahi, detailed, on the Mosaic FM the most common expenses. Among them: 2000 dinars for the engagement ring, 6000 dinars for a set of jewelry of 14 grams, 15,000 dinars for the furniture of the living room, the bedroom and the dining room, and 5,000 dinars for basic household appliances such as the TV, the refrigerator, the washing machine and the stove.

The so -called “seasonal” costs between engagement and marriage amounted between 2000 and 3000 dinars. To this are added 4000 dinars for hairstyle and aesthetic care, 4000 dinars for carpets, curtains and kitchen equipment, 8000 dinars for the rental of the village hall, 4000 dinars for the orchestra and 2000 dinars for pastries intended for fifty people. The respective evenings of the bride and the bride, with the meal included, also represent a cost of 4000 dinars.

Lotfi Riahi stressed that this estimate was made in a logic of budgetary sobriety. He nevertheless specifies that the budget can easily exceed this threshold according to the choices of families.
