Invited on the airwaves of Jawhara FM this Wednesday, May 30, 2025, Sihem Ben Sedrine, former president of the Truth and Dignity body, spoke about her detention and the prosecution committed against him.
She said she had no real estate, in Tunisia or abroad, and said she lives in rental accommodation. According to his remarks, the judicial investigations would have confirmed the absence of heritage in his name. She also said that she had declared her property at the start and the end of her mandate at the head of the IVD, adding that this information had been published on the official website of the body.
Regarding her detention, Ben Sedrine said he did not know the exact reasons for his incarceration or the precise circumstances of his release. She said that the case dates back three years, when investigations had been opened against the body, and that it had been summoned as a legal representative.
She also mentioned an interrogation which took place in March 2024, lasting a total of more than forty hours spread over four days. She claims that the investigating judge in charge had then ordered his release, judging the empty file, before being transferred to Jendouba. She believes that this transfer was linked to pressures exerted by the public prosecutor.
Regarding his conditions of detention, Sihem Ben Sedrine reported a hunger strike that led to eight -day hospitalization in resuscitation service. She said she received care when she was hampered, denouncing what she considers an infringement of the integrity of medical structures by the security services.
She clarified having spent seven months in detention before being released on February 19, 2025, following the degradation of her state of health. However, it remains continued in six separate cases, without specifying its nature.
As a reminder, a deposit warrant was issued against him on August 1, 2024.
