The former deputy for the assembly of representatives of the dissolved people and ex-president of the Sports Future of Soliman (ASS), Walid Jalled, appeared this Monday, May 5, 2025 before the criminal chamber specializing in the financial corruption affairs near the Tunis court of first instance.
He is prosecuted in a case related to suspicions of money laundering and dubious financial management within the ASS.
At the end of the hearing, the Chamber decided to reject the request for liberation presented by the Defense, now the former parliamentarian in preventive detention. The case was returned to May 22 for the continuation of the examination of the file, in particular the hearing of new witnesses and the analysis of accounting documents seized.
The origin of the case dates back to February 2023, the date on which Walid Jalled had been arrested following an investigation of the prosecution of the Tunis court. The investigators then looked at his assets as well as the financial management of the sports association which he chaired.
According to sources close to the file, the accusations relate in particular to suspicious financial movements, questionable contracts and possible illicit enrichment during its period of political and associative activity.
