The Minister of Education, Nourreddine Nouri, made a field visit to the Ouled Baraka primary school, in the delegation of Foussana.
The Minister assured that rapid interventions have been carried out by design offices to secure the interior space of the school and protect students. He said that the place is now safe, and that a new intervention will take place today on the surrounding wall: either by the demolition of certain parts deemed dangerous, or by the installation of protective barriers to avoid any accident.
During his tour in several educational establishments in the governorate of Kasserine, the minister indicated that his department launched a national maintenance program covering all of the country’s schools.
He added that following a global diagnosis of schools, three categories were defined:
• The first concerns establishments presenting an immediate danger: measures have been taken, either by demolition or by closure, and urgent rehabilitation works are in progress.
• The second brings together the establishments requiring confirmed maintenance work, which will be carried out by next September.
• The third includes establishments to benefit from a complete rehabilitation, scheduled from January 2026. The objective is to offer attractive establishments, safe and in accordance with the conditions of a quality school life.
The Minister also mentioned agreements concluded with the Ministry of Agriculture in order to widen well in several schools to fill the crying lack of drinking water.
With regard to the school canteen, he said that from next year, coordination between governors and regional delegations will be set up to ensure safe and decent school transport, balanced meals and an environment conducive to a continuous school career, without interruptions.
