The Minister of Equipment and Housing, Salah Zouari, inaugurated this Monday, August 25, 2025 a new bridge on the regional road n ° 22, as part of the vast project to extend the southern entrance to the capital.

A strategic bridge to connect Ben Arous to El Mourouj

The new work is located on the regional road n ° 22, connecting the center of trauma and the burnby of Ben Arous at the entrances to the city El Mourouj. The inauguration marks a key step in the modernization program for access to the capital.

During his inspection visit, Salah Zouari insisted on:

“The need for better coordination between regional and security authorities. Objective: guarantee road safety in an area marked by dense traffic ”.

This declaration comes on the eve of the commissioning of a new tunnel at the Cité Ennour (Kabaria), expected by the end of the week, and intended to facilitate access to Béja and the western districts of Tunis (Sidi Hassine, Zahrouni).

Advancement of the South entrance site

The Minister took stock of the three main phases of the project, namely the Saint-Gobain railroad, the Kabaria interchange, and the trauma and burnby center.

Each of these stages constitutes an essential link in the infrastructure aimed at fluidifying road traffic.

A major project at 370 MD

With an overall cost estimated at 370 million dinars, jointly funded by the State and the European Investment Bank, the project extends over 11.5 km.

According to the Ministry of Equipment, it should not only unclog the southern entrance to Tunis, but also stimulate economic activity in the region.
