Users of public and private transport in Grand Tunis will have to be patient in May. Two strike movements are announced in the sector, one touching the transu, the other individual taxis.
The General Federation of Transport, affiliated with the UGTT, announced that a strike notice has been filed by the Basic Syndicate of the Transu for May 21 and 22. This face -to -face strike mainly concerns agents of the public urban transport company.
Among the demands raised: the renewal of the vehicle fleet, the opening of new recruitments, as well as the regularization of the situation of the TransTu with the CNRPS (National Retirement Fund and Social Provident). The union also calls for the tenure of administrative staff and department heads.
Other requests: the return of medical services, the granting of social loans and advances for illness, as well as a revaluation of the aid granted during the holidays.
Grand Tunis taxis on strike on May 19
Before this mobilization, a general strike of individual taxis is scheduled for May 19 in Greater Tunis. The president of the basic taxi union, Nader Kazdaghli, indicated that the drivers are demanding an increase in prices, believing that current prices no longer make it possible to cover the charges related to their activity.
The claims relate in particular to the increase in the treatment rate and waiting costs, as well as on the implementation of an automatic price adjustment mechanism to follow inflation.
