Journalist Mourad Zeghidi, incarcerated since May 2024, is summoned once again before the investigating judge on May 15, 2025. This appearance is part of a money laundering affected under the anti -terrorism legislation, an approach that his lawyers consider unfounded.
Initially arrested on May 11, 2024 and sentenced to eight months in prison for “dissemination of false news” under the decree-law 54, Zeghidi should have been released in January 2025. However, he remains in detention due to new accusations of money laundering, which his defense considers an attempt to arbitrarily prolong his incarceration.
During a press conference held on May 7 at the headquarters of the National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT), the Zeghidi Defense Collective expressed his hope for an upcoming liberation, stressing that the expertise has demonstrated the inaccuracy of the suspicions selected.
