The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, gathered yesterday afternoon, at the Palais de Carthage, the presidents of the two parliamentary chambers: Ibrahim Bouderbala for the Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP) and Imed Derbali for the National Council of Regions and Districts (CNRD).
This highly symbolic meeting is part of a context where the head of state affirms that Tunisia is engaged in a “national liberation battle” on several fronts. He insisted on the central role that legislative power must play, as a whole, in this process of refoundation.
Recognizing the diversity of points of view, Kais Saied affirmed, in a press release relayed by the Facebook page of the Presidency of the Republic, that the plurality of opinions is “normal”, provided that it converges towards a common objective.
Among the priorities mentioned, the president has emphasized the urgency of social justice. He called on the two chambers to show initiative and to offer innovative solutions to meet persistent challenges, including unemployment, poverty and exclusion.
